Fall is taking its sweet time arriving in Midcoast Maine, and many people are just fine with that this time around. Over at the Snow Bowl, we are thinking about winter, and in the meantime, we’re preparing to fire up the chairlift for our annual Fall Foliage Chairlift Rides!
Every Sunday in October, the triple chairlift will be running from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Once you’re at the top of Ragged Mountain, hop off and wander along two short paths to clearings at the summit, one with views of Penobscot Bay and the islands to the east, the other with views of the surrounding mountains to the north and west. Ragged Mountain and the Snow Bowl are the only place you where you can ride a chairlift and be rewarded with ocean views! When you are ready, you can either grab a chair and ride back down the mountain, or take a stroll on foot among your choice of trails.
Chairlift rides are $10 for adults, $5 for children 6 and under. Hiking maps provided. If you bring along your mountain bike for added fun, trail maps are available for $2, courtesy of the Midcoast Chapter of New England Mountain Bike Association.
For those looking for some fuel before their rides and hikes, the Ragged Mountain Ski and Snowboard Club will be hosting pancake breakfasts, 8:30-10:30 a.m., also on Sundays in October. Breakfast is by donation, and Ski Club members will be on hand to talk about their organization and the great things they do to support the community and the Camden Snow Bowl’s programs and activities.
Ski Club sign-up is available during the pancake breakfasts, and Snow Bowl Season Passes (at EARLY BIRD RATES!) can be purchased during the chairlift rides.
See you at the mountain!
